They will be keeping a weather eye on what their competitors are doing.

There was a domino effect when some companies decided to blanket ban PSC contractors.
Now contractors are hoping that there will be a domino effect the other way.
Companies will not want to be the only ones in their marketplace blanket banning PSC contractors.
They will, in effect, be offering less than their competitors once the contractors’ extra tax is extracted.
Which companies are reviewing their positions at contractor IR35 status meetings
I’m told that companies like Sky, Experis and SSE are reviewing their positions in the light of the Government’s IR35 announcement.
There will be hundreds more doing the same.
Even if companies don’t want to reverse their previous policy of forcing contractors into PAYE via an umbrella company or their agencies, there may be pressure on them to allow new hires to use their personal services companies.
What will be the outcome of contractor IR35 status meetings
If they don’t they could find themselves unable to hire fresh contractor talent. Ether that or they will have to pay a premium on top of what their competitors are paying.
The next few days (even hours) could prove crucial.
